Mr. Alok Perti holds a bachelor’s degree in science and a master’s degree in physics from the University of Allahabad. His academic journey continued with a master’s degree in social planning & policy in developing countries from the prestigious London School of Economics, United Kingdom. These educational accomplishments reflect his commitment to academic excellence and laid the groundwork for his illustrious career.
Government Stewardship:
With a career spanning over four decades in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Mr. Perti has held pivotal roles in both state and central governments. He served in various capacities in state government departments such as Health and Family Welfare, Transport, Power, Finance, and Home. His tenure in the Government of India included senior positions in ministries like Defence, Health & Welfare, and Coal, where he spearheaded groundbreaking initiatives.
Policy and Advisory Contributions:
Mr. Perti’s contributions to policy development are noteworthy. As Member Secretary of the Kelkar Committee, he played a key role in formulating recommendations to promote private local industry in Defence Production. His involvement in writing the World Development Report of 1992 for the World Bank showcased his expertise in Health Economics and policy formulation.
Corporate and Advisory Roles:
Post-retirement, Mr. Perti continued to contribute significantly to the corporate world and advisory sphere. He served as an advisor to prominent companies such as Bharat Forge, Jindal Stainless, and Dupont, providing strategic guidance and insights. His board memberships in public sector companies like Coal India Limited and Bharat Electronics Ltd underscore his deep industry knowledge and leadership.

He has held prominent roles as Chairman of the Coal Preparation Society of India and Chairman of the Indian Coal Forum, driving dialogue and initiatives within the coal sector.
